Tempe Can Win in May

Over the past few weeks, I’m sure you’ve seen all sorts of ads and posts from TempeWins. I’m here to present some information about the Tempe Entertainment District(referred to as TED as well) which is prop 301, 302 and 303.

This initiative will not only give the Coyotes a new home but also give Tempe 300,000 feet of retail dining and public ice rink, 3,000 seat concert venue, 1,600+ residential units, and hotels to host away visitors. The 54,000ft practice arena will be public and used to foster the growth of youth hockey in the Valley, creating the next Tage Thompson or Auston Matthews, Arizona kids who are killing it in the NHL. The propositions will fully incorporate with the Rio Salado ad Beach Masterplan which will before special events and public uses.

The reason I write this very article today, in addition to admitting the bias of Coyotes fanship, is because this is a privately funded venture with Coyotes ownership group paying upwards of $2.1 BILLION. Tempe is only paying for the landfill clean-up and receiving a state-of-the-art entertainment district at NO COST to taxpayers, contrary to Tempe1sts’ claims. This is a complete win for Tempe who will not only get an amazing up-and-coming Coyotes with faces of Clayton Keller, Logan Cooley and Dylan Guenther to name a few but also a concert venue bringing in star-studded acts to match said hockey team and bring in revenue unseen in Tempe.

I think one of the most underrated perks of these propositions is turning a landfill into a landmark. This land has no use other than storing trash and with the approvals of these proposals, it will become the home of so many great things.

Tempe, with the propositions approved and the TED being built, will bring in an estimated $215 million, $225 million to Maricopa county, and $1 billion to the great state of Arizona at NO cost to the taxpayer.

To my sports fans out there it will also bring professional sports back to Tempe since the Cardinals left in 2006 giving you a chance to catch your favorite team if you’re not a Coyotes fan. This is bigger than the Coyotes, don’t let your personal feelings about the Coyotes keep you from giving Tempe an economic opportunity not yet seen in the Valley.

Please register to vote if you’re a Tempe resident, even if you oppose, because all voices of Tempe should be heard.

The vote will take place the 16th of May 2023.
