The Coyotes are losing games, but showing promise
This Week’s Games
@ Home against the Winnipeg Jets
In an exciting first game in the Coyotes new home, they lost in overtime, 3-2. Special teams did do well on the Penalty Kill. The Jets had three chances at the man advantage, but the Coyotes killed them off. Both Arizona goals were scored by RW Christian Fischer (3).
@ Home against the New York Rangers
The Coyotes are starting to play better, but they need to stay out of the Penalty Box. They lost this game in another close game 3-2, and the Rangers scored a Power Play goal to take the lead. The Coyotes Goals came from LW Lawson Crouse (3) on the Power Play, and C Nick Bjugstad (1).
@ Home against the Florida Panthers
The Coyotes finally got their first home win by a score of 3-1. The defense and goal tending really stepped up in this game. The Coyotes scored two Power Play goals by LW Lawson Crouse (4), and RW Nick Ritchie (4). RW Clayton Keller (3) sealed the game with an Empty Net goal.
The Good
Arizona is starting to play as a unit. Special teams stands out as a strong part of the Coyotes game so far this season. Power Plays goals have been made and the team is not allowing many goals against our Penalty Kill. Keeping the games close has given the younger players hope to be able to get back into the games. The coaching staff has really got the team working.
The Bad
Not many bad things to say other than the Coyotes lost two of the games. The passing of the puck has not been as crisp as I would like to see, but that is fixable.
How The Coyotes are Trending
The Coyotes are 3-5-1 with 7 points so far in the standings. It is still early in the season, but they are not in last place like they were last year.
What’s on Tap
Thursday will be the last home game for the Coyotes where they will play the Dallas Stars. Saturday brings the start of the 14-game road trip against the Washington Capitals. Next Tuesday, the Coyotes will be in Buffalo to play the Sabres.
