The Diamondbacks are a fun team to watch

The 2022 Diamondbacks are not a good team – but they are exciting.

Even with a losing record, they have me sitting on the edge of my seat.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are still rebuilding the team, and the farm system has 3 of the top 25 prospects in the Major Leagues. There are people watching more Minor League baseball than MBL because of the excitement of the young guys. People can’t wait until Corbin Carroll comes up, but President and CEO Derrick Hall has said that the organization does not want to bring up the prospects unless they are ready to stay. He doesn’t want to send them back. The future is looking good.

The Major League team is still fun to watch. There are a few prospects that have been moved up. A fan favorite, Seth Beer, has had a few stints with the team. After his opening day walk-off home run, on National Beer Day no less, everyone loves to watch him play.

Even with a losing record (53-63), the Arizona Diamondbacks have been in a few of those losses. If you look at just the blown saves, 16, if the team wins half of those, that would be 8 wins more. There have been 36 one-run games, which means the team is keeping it close. The fault is not only with the pitching, the run support has been lacking also with 11 shutout losses. They can’t win if they don’t produce runs.

Last night’s game kept me on the edge of my seat. It was Arizona leading the game 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs and 2 strikes. Brandon Crawford of the San Francisco Giants hit the walk-off two-run Home Run to win the game. It was a loss, but it was very exciting to watch. I’m looking forward to the September call-ups. Let those young players get a taste of the Majors.

Expect the Diamondbacks to be better next year, and maybe even be in the playoffs. The farm system is strong, and Arizona has key players still on the team to fill out the roster next year.
